Getting Over It : 28 Weeks!

The Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston has become quite the yearly tradition.  I was pretty sad this year I was going to have to sit it out, until I realized I could walk the 10k!  Now that the time has changed and the weather is getting warmer, I have been enjoying evening walks.  We convinced my Papaw to walk with me, when he tried to make every excuse he couldn’t make it this year.  So at 5am early Saturday morning we got up and by 545am we were on a bus being shuttled to Mt. Pleasant to the start line.  Ben and I my mom headed off to their seed for running and we hung in the back with the walkers.  I got lots of comments on being pregnant, but everyone was quite impressed!

It was quite chilly, but by the time we crossed the start line at 8:14am we were stating to warm up.  I figured if I could walk 3 miles in about 45 minutes, then I should be able to finish a little over 6 in around 1h 40 minutes.  Papaw and I crossed the finish line, jogging the last 0.2 miles at 1:41.  I beat him by 4 thousandths of a second -  we attribute that to Tipp and my belly winning by a hair!  28 Weeks

I’m so glad I’m feeling good enough to keep up walking and hope I can continue for the next 12 weeks!  I’m pretty sure Tipp enjoys me lulling him to sleep.  I see lots of walks and runs in our future!

By this week, Tippett weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With hisr eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through my womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
